La limpieza era un desastre, sólo hacian la cama y no limpiaban. Se les olvidaba el gel, el champú, las toallas, en fin tenias que comunicar las incidencias continuamente por que reincidian al día siguiente. No es un hotel de cinco estrellas.

Deficiente limpieza en habitación. Poca variación en los buffet libre de los distintos días. Para una o dos estancias .... bien. Para una semana ..... muy repetitiva.

Direct access to the ocean (not all the hotels have this possibility, and there are no public beaches in Funchal). Close to city center with lots of very nice restaurants. Great solution for umbrellas: they install them after you tell them where and how many you need - no need to search for free ones.

We were given the worst room in the hotel. After discussions it was changed though, but the negative impression remained. We took bed&breakfast, breakfast was not on a level of 5 star hotel. Staff at the front desk not friendly at all. They do not offer any daily rates for parking - you need to pay hourly rates (even during the night, even when you don't use the car for several days) - option is to park outside on the street and paying 3 times less or nothing, depending on where you parked. We stayed 11 nights there, and 30% of the time they were forgetting to give us fresh beach towels. Meal in the restaurants is terrible, there are plenty of nice restaurants outside where you can get much tastier dishes for the same price.

We enjoyed our stay and would recommend Maderia as a place to visit. We were there for 3 weeks due to the Volcano situation in Iceland, however I would probably recommend a 7 day visit overall.

The outdoor play area for children was nice and a big hit with my two girls. The food in the a la carte restaurant was excellent, although it was closed when the hotel increased in occupancy over the flower festival. The Pub and Pool bar and restaurant was very nice, staff were excellent and the food good. Service at breakfast was excellent. The swimming pools were nice and clean and there were plenty of sunbeds to go around. Location of the hotel was good, close to many restaurants, so eating out was never a problem.

I would have liked to have seen the meals being served have the option of vegetables instead of chips. Mini golf would have been nice for the children to play on, but should be pulled out and started again. The games room also needs a lot of work. These areas of the hotel were very uncared for. It would be good to incorporate an indoor soft play area where children can go. The cleaning of the bedrooms was ok, when there was obvious rubbish eft in the room(Pizza takeaway boxes), these were not cleared away for some days and the counter not wiped down. The indoor pool steps needs some attention, they were serverely cracked and would pose a health and safety risk if not looked at as there is the potential to cut your feet when entering or exiting the pool. The hotel mentions a sumptious breakfast, but I feel this was fairly average.

Plenty of restaurants close to the hotel to visit. We enjoyed the Indian restaurant, the restaurant next to the supermarket is superb, and The Chalet restaurant - all apposite the hotel. Visit the beautiful park on the hill, take a 10 minute stroll down into the centre of Funchal. Take the cable car to the Tropical Gardens and another ride to the Botanical Gardens at Monte. Hop on and off the open top buses.

A comfortable hotel, very well organised in all respects, and especially good in dealing with check-in andcheck-out, arranging luggage storage and calling taxis. The doorman was excellent. All staff are very pleasant.
